Art Workshop 1: Stained Glass – Ideas & Methods

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 5-6

Introducing the wonderful world of stained glass panels. Our highly experienced teacher, explains how the schools use board, tools, cartoons, glass and method to produce wonderful works of art. Each pupil will get the chance to create a cartoon and using different papers build up a fantastic display. Inspiring pupils to find out more about this wonderful medium!

Art Workshop 2: Papier-mâché mini beasts

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 3-6

Adapted from the new art curriculum, children learn the technique of papier-mâché and create a ‘mini beast’ to paint and decorate. Due to the nature of papier-mâché and its required drying time of a week this workshop is in two parts, 2 half days over 2 weeks. Delivered by an experienced teacher of art this workshop brings art to 3-D life!

Art Workshop 3: Papier-mâché Historic Artefacts

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 4-6

Children learn the technique of papier-mâché and create an ‘historic artefact’ to paint and decorate. Due to the nature of papier-mâché and its required drying time of a week this workshop is in three parts, 3 half days over 2 weeks This is part of the new Art curriculum ‘Art from Other Cultures’ unit and a vase, bowl or plate can be made and is delivered by a highly experienced teacher.

Art Workshop 4: Papier-mâché ‘Healthy Junk Food Fun’

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 3-6

Children learn the technique of papier-mâché and create a giant healthy burger to paint and decorate. Due to the nature of papier-mâché and its required drying time of a week and the different parts to the construction of the Burger this workshop is in three parts, 3 half days over 2 weeks. Brings 3-D to life, no calories consumed!

Art Workshop 5: Framed ‘watercolour’ landscape paintings

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 4-6

Children learn the techniques of wet on wet watercolour painting, paint effects and mono printing to create a ‘Claude Monet’ landscape. They are then shown how to make an antique picture frame to complete their masterpiece. Due to the nature of painting and its required drying time of a day this workshop is in three parts, 3 half days over 1-2 weeks. This workshop is part of the new Art curriculum “Landscapes” unit.

Art Workshop 6: Pop-Art Mixed media and cut paper collage

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Year 5

Children learn the techniques of collage and practice using scissors to create a Pop-Art collaged artwork. They are then shown how to recreate a famous ‘Andy Warhol’ Pop-Art picture using a variety of art ‘mixed media’ and different mark-making techniques.

Art Workshop 7: Under the Sea Mixed Media Collage

Suitable for: Key Stage 1

Children learn the techniques of collage to create an ‘Under the Sea’ mixed media artwork. They are shown how to recreate an under water scene with plants and animals using a variety of different art media techniques and effects. Due to the nature of painting and its required drying time this workshop is in two parts, 2 half days over 1-2 weeks.

Art Workshop 8: Terrific Toys!

Suitable for: Key Stage 1, Year 2

Children learn how to use fabric scissors safely to cut out shapes and also the technique of hand sewing to make a ‘Stuffed Animal’ toy. They are shown how to decorate the toy using a variety of different fabric scraps, sequins, fringing, beads, glitter and ribbon. Due to the complexity of this workshop it is in two parts, 2 half days over 1-2 weeks.

Art Workshop 9: Air-Dry Clay Sculptures

Suitable for: Key Stage 1, Year 2

Children learn how to use air-dry clay and the technique of hand building to create a 3D organic sculpture inspired by the artist ‘Henry Moore’. They are shown how to handle the clay correctly- rolling, cutting, pulling, pinching and creating holes. Due to the drying time of clay this workshop is in two parts, 2 half days over 1-2 weeks. From the new Art curriculum programme of study, ‘Straight-line and Curvy Sculpture unit’. This workshop can also be differentiated to cover KS1 and KS2.

Art Workshop 10: Tie-dye and Appliquéd Butterflies

Suitable for: Key Stage 1, Year 3

Children learn the technique of tie-dye and hand sewing (embroidery) to create a simple ‘Butterfly’ cushion. They are shown how to handle a sewing needle safely and practice basic embroidery stitches. Due to the drying time of Tie-Dye this workshop is in two parts, 2 half days over 1-2 weeks. This has been adapted from the new Art curriculum programme of study, ‘Butterflies’ unit.

Art Workshop 11: Clarice Cliff- Papier-Mâché bowls

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Year 6

Children learn the technique of papier-mâché to create a bowl using a mould. Then when dry are shown how to apply a finish before being able to decorate it from supplied images inspired by the ceramicist ‘Bizarre’ pottery range. Due to the drying time of Papier-Mâché this workshop is in three parts, 2 half days over 2 weeks. Maybe the end results won’t sell for as much as a real Clarice Cliff – but wonderfully inspiring all the same!

Bring every child’s favourite story book to life! The children create a mask of one of five characters from the famous storybook ‘The Gruffalo’. Gruffalo, Mouse, Fox, Owl and Snake.

Art Workshop 13: Paper craft ‘Decoupage Birds’ mobile

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 3-6

Children are shown how to create a ‘Birds’ mobile using scissor skills, folding and decoupage papers to make a beautiful ‘Paper Birds’ mobile. This workshop involves glue so drying time will be required before the graduating sized ‘Birds’ can be assembled in to a mobile. Workshop is suggested to be run as 2 half days over 1-2 weeks.

Searching for clues in paintings for social and historical context, pupils will create their own small group drama work based on the painting they have been analysing. Delivered by a specialist Art Teacher of nearly 30 years experienced, this really will bring out the inner Sherlock in your classroom.

Art Workshop 21: Fun Frottage & Impressive Inks!

Suitable for: Key Stage 2, Years 3-6

This workshop is designed to stimulate students into developing creative ways of producing rubbings, using different media and wax resist techniques. Students will also learn how to use pen and ink in their drawings by using, bleeding, hatching, stippling, and wash techniques as well as being able to add different tones to their work.
