Love to Read Media Coverage

We are delighted that our Love to Read programme has received some fantastic press in the last couple of weeks. Read on for a round up of the latest print, radio and TV coverage.

Love to Read, our new reading intervention programme launched in May this year, has had incredible early success. We began this project with a pilot scheme, running in three schools in West Yorkshire. On the back of the incredible results from those schools, we have rolled out the programme across the UK.

One of the schools that took part in the initial Love to Read pilot was Upper Batley High School in West Yorkshire. Due to the phenomenal results of the programme in their school, we have developed a case study in conjunction with Sam Vickers, Headteacher of Upper Batley High School. This case study has received lots of interest from local press in West Yorkshire.

Of the Year 8 pupils that took part in the 10 week pilot scheme at Upper Batley, 80% improved their reading age by more than a year.

Since the launch of programme in May, we have received interest in Love to Read from nearly 100 schools across the UK, both Primary and Secondary. Following that, we have successful programmes running in a number of schools and estimate that 540 pupils are currently being supported by the programme.

This reading programme is unique in that Supply Desk provide the trained Love to Read tutor to the school to run the intervention over a period of 10 weeks. All the school needs to do is identify the pupils they would like to take part. Since the launch of the programme in May, we have over 100 candidates who have expressed in an interest in becoming a Love to Read trained tutor. The bespoke online candidate training, developed by Supply Desk, can be take quickly and easily, once the right candidate is identified.
