Supply Desk Leeds Supports Local School Fundraising Walk
Raising funds for new playground equipment in Bradford.
The team at Supply Desk Leeds have dug deep to support the fundraising initiatives of one of the many local schools they have a close working relationship with.
Lidget Green Primary School in Bradford recently held a Sponsored Walk, as part of a larger effort to raise money for much needed new playground equipment.
Lidget Green Headteacher Mr Mike Pope explains ‘I am retiring as the headteacher of Lidget Green Primary School at the end of this academic year and would like to mark the occasion by raising a substantial amount of money towards the school’s Playground Development Fund. Our playground is very small and doesn’t meet the needs of the children at the moment. I would like to leave the school with an improved playground and have a vision of it being an exciting and interesting place for children to play and explore. Our Parents and Teachers Association have already raised some money for the playground fund by holding a number of events in school, but we still need to raise another £5000. I am hoping to raise at least £1500 of this, so, at the end of this month, I will be doing a sponsored walk of the Dales Way, an 80 mile trek from Ilkley to Lake Windermere in Cumbria. Because walking 80 miles is not enough of challenge in itself, I will be reliving my youth by backpacking along the route’.
Neil Waddington, Branch Manager of Supply Desk Leeds, commented “As a branch we work very closely with our schools, and are always thrilled to have an opportunity to support them, and to further our combined mission of achieving improved outcomes for all students in the UK. Having quality playground equipment is an important part of the physical, emotional and mental development of pupils, and we were so happy to be able to support this worthwhile fundraising initiative of Lidget Green Primary School”.
