The school is located in Berkshire and due to an increase in the number of children displaying behavioural challenges so far this academic year, the special needs co-ordinator wants to interview and recruit a Behaviour Mentor – Teaching Assistant. It is a friendly and welcoming school which are continuously striving for improvement. It is a mainstream school who believe that every child has the ability to succeed regardless of background and challenges they face and they are seeking someone to help nurture their pupils and share their ethos.
We welcome applications from other industry experience due to the transferrable skills such as:
- A graduate of Psychology
- Sports coach
- Experience with child/adult mental health service
- Care background
- Military background
- Youth or residential work
Equally if you are an existing Teaching Assistant with specific behavioural experience we would encourage you to apply.
Experience of Team Teach or Positive Handling would be advantageous.
This opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor – Teaching Assistant will involve supporting pupils with barriers to learning, who display challenging behaviour. Whilst supporting children on a 1:1 or small group basis, as a learning support assistant, you would be expected to show a calm, caring and nurturing approach as building positive relationships is key to improving behaviour and supporting the children within the school.
