Supply Desk are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant for a primary school in Oldham (OL1). This primary school has safe, happy and positive learning atmosphere. The school does ‘require improvement’ in some areas, one including more resourcing for children with EAL. The school aim to go above and beyond to ensure every pupil is given the opportunity to broaden their learning and experiences through providing the children the opportunity to attend sporting events, residential visits/trips and through visiting speakers from different faiths and groups. The school is widely diverse and welcomes children from all faiths and ethnic backgrounds.
As an EAL teaching assistant you would be required to support children on a 1:1 basis with little English and communication ability. You will work mainly in early years or KS1 but may need to assist other years if the support is required. You will work closely with the children individually or in groups to assist them in and out of lessons to tailor their learning to meet their needs to enhance their English skills. You will be required to monitor the children’s progress and report back to teachers with feedback. The school are looking for an individual who is passionate in child development and communication and supportive and consistent in their teaching support. The ideal candidate must have experience working with children with EAL with a proven track record of making good progress teaching English.
