About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join our dedicated team in Newport. The successful candidate will engage students in exploring historical events, themes, and perspectives, encouraging critical thinking, empathy, and a deep understanding of the past and its impact on the present. This role involves delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that inspire students to appreciate history’s role in shaping societies and their own identities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality History lessons across all key stages, aligned with the Curriculum for Wales.
  • Foster curiosity and critical analysis by guiding students through discussions and activities that explore diverse historical contexts and viewpoints.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing targeted support to maximize learning outcomes.
  • Participate actively in the school community, contributing to events, clubs, and extracurricular activities focused on history and cultural awareness.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports open dialogue and individual growth.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a qualified teacher with a strong background in History and a comprehensive understanding of the Curriculum for Wales. Ideal candidates will be committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, ethical reflection, and a respectful appreciation for diversity.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialization in History.
  • Proven experience teaching History, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales and current assessment frameworks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • A dedication to promoting critical thinking, inclusivity, and lifelong learning.
