Are you a Maths graduate or undergraduate looking to work as an unqualified teacher? Maybe you are looking for a career change but have a strong Maths knowledge which could be put to excellent use in the classroom? Perhaps you are already an experienced school cover supervisor?
Supply Desk are looking to recruit a fluent Welsh Maths graduate to work as a cover supervisor for a Welsh medium secondary school in Cardiff. The role is to start full time in September 2021 and is currently set to last the academic year.
The schools is currently rated by Estyn as ‘Good’ and has a supportive and intrinsically Welsh ethos, with a very positive reputation in the Cardiff area. The school is located in the city centre and is easily accessible by car or public transport.
Becoming a cover supervisor is a great way of gaining experience in the classroom if you are looking to pursue a career in teaching. By working as a cover supervisor you will be responsible for implementing work programmes set by a subject specialist class teacher, maintaining good order and keeping students on task. You will need to respond to pupils’ questions and generally assist students to undertake set activities. There will be no planning or marking involved but you do get the experience of understanding how it feels to deliver a lesson as a teacher!
What you’ll need to succeed
- Fluent Welsh speaker
- Experience working with children desirable
- Degree in Maths (or related)
- Energetic and positive attitude
- EWC registration or willing to apply
- Current DBS registered on the update system or willing to apply
