SEMH Class Teacher

I’m currently working closely with a client based in West Sussex. They are looking for a class teacher who is open to teaching in a therapeutic learning environment. The students usually have social, emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties (SEMH) as well as learning difficulties.
Job Summary
- You will be part of a team of teachers and assistants responsible for a class. The Class Teacher will have overall responsibility for the class. The class will be likely to have between 4 and 8 students, according to the needs of the pupils and the ability of the teacher.
- You are responsible for the academic work, discipline and social education of the class. There will usually be one classroom assistant who will be with the class for all lessons.
- Provide a balanced curriculum and maintain the progress of all pupils in the class through the relevant subjects at a pace suitable to their age and development.
- The curriculum for the Class Teacher usually consists of teaching all subjects
- The Class Teacher will write daily and weekly lesson plans for their class.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

- Experienced in working with SEMH/special needs pupils and wish to develop your skills and knowledge further

- Able to and enjoys participating in different types of play
- Someone who can take initiative but can also follow instructions
To be considered you must be:
- Passionate about helping children
- Experienced or some knowledge of working with SEMH children
- Committed to self-improvement and developing your knowledge
- Enhanced DBS check (or willing to be checked)
