A client school have come to Supply Desk with an urgent requirement for a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work with a pupil within Year 1 after recently receiving funding for this particular pupil.
Due to the pupil’s age the needs are undiagnosed at the moment, however with the recent internal assessment it has become clear the pupil does need 1:1 support to help access the curriculum as well as maintaining levels of behaviour suitable in a classroom environment.
The school is located just off Junction 17 of the M60 and is easily accessible from both Manchester and Bury. This school is a small one form entry school graded good by ofsted with a special mention to the progress of the children within the school and also how the senior management are implementing new methods throughout the school.
During recent internal support the pupil has reacted well and enjoys the interaction of an adult, but can become frustrated and more difficult if asked to do something out of comfort zone. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience working within Key Stage one as well as the capability to set out clear boundaries for the pupil with certain expectations and rewards.
The pupil is said to be highly capable of meeting expectation for the age and also communicates well within class with both Teacher and other children but can become easily distracted and mischievous when left unsupported.
This role will initially be up until the end of the academic year, however as long as the funding is in places for this pupil the role will continue for the right candidates.
The school is based in the Denton area of Tameside and is a big community school with a strong senior leadership team all striving for the best for every child.
