Supply Desk Manchester are working with this Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ primary school in Beswick, Manchester to find an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to start ASAP.
This EYFS child:
- Thrives on visual aids and structure, including ‘now and next’ boards and visual timetables
- Is very active and loves to play on the outdoor areas outlined above
- Requires an adult with him to maintain his calmness, including alleviating anxieties around big groups of children
- Has speech and language difficulties and uses the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) for much of his communication
- Can get overwhelmed and overstimulated and thus require time outside of the classroom to regain composure and gain reassurance from his adult
- Prospers under positive praise alongside a strong, friendly and caring relationship with his 1:1 adult whom he is always keen to impress
- This child requires clear boundaries, rewards and sanctions to secure his best behaviour and effort
The ideal teaching assistant will:
- Be caring, patient and calm with some knowledge and understanding of working with children with SEN
- Work closely with this SEN child, under the class teacher’s direction, delivering stimulating and engaging 1:1 sessions, which will be planned for you, to raise this EYFS academic attainment and his social and emotional development
- Develop a professional, compassionate and extremely positive relationship with this child which will in turn encourage positive behaviour
- Be aware and motivated by that this is a challenging but extremely rewarding role for the right individual
