Supply Desk are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant for a Secondary school in Manchester (M1 ). This Secondary school has safe, happy and positive learning atmosphere. The school aim to go above and beyond to ensure every pupil is given the opportunity to broaden their learning. The school is widely diverse and welcomes children from all faiths and ethnic backgrounds.

As an SEN teaching assistant you would be required work with a child on a 1:1 basis with challenging behaviours. You will work closely with the child to provide additional support, learning and nurturing when the child is showing signs of distress or disruption. This will be required to take the child out lessons regularly to provide extra support, sitting side by side in lessons to keep the child focused, tailoring the child’s learning using different management techniques and building a trustworthy relationship with the child to make them comfortable and confident in their learning environment. This can be a challenging and demanding role and requires a resilient, patient and caring individual who can handle difficult situations and particularly challenging children with SEMH. The ideal candidate must have experience working with children with challenging behaviours ideally in an educational setting and have proven the ability to manage children with challenging behaviours effectively.
