Speech & Language Teaching Assistant Required

SEN SPEECH AND LANGUAGE TEACHING ASSISTANT REQUIRED – PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MANCHESTER, M14

Do you have SEN experience with children with speech, language and communication difficulties?

Do you have a Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent?

Are you interested in working within a primary school setting?

Supply Desk are working closely with a large school in the Manchester area (M14). This Manchester primary school aim to actively encourage the involvement of parents and members of our community in school life. The school believe that the success of each child’s education is important whatever their ability. The school pride ourselves on being a happy, secure and forward-looking and are totally committed to ensuring the highest possible achievements for all of their children. The children are well mannered and polite and this contributes to the calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school.

As an SEN speech and language teaching assistant you would be required to support a child on a 1:1 basis with little speaking and communication ability. You will work closely with a child individually or in groups to assist them in and out of lessons to tailor their learning to meet their needs to enhance their limited speech, language and communication skills. The school are looking for an individual who is passionate in child development and would like to gain experience in working in an educational based setting.

Job Highlights

  • SEN experience working with children with little speaking and communication skills
  • Using various communication programmes to support children in the EYFS and Key Stage 1.
  • Autistic children and children with barriers to communication
  • PECS, visual aids, “now” and “next” cards to help communicate
  • To make sure pupils fully understand the lesson objectives.
  • Must have a nurturing and encouraging approach at all times.
  • Assist the development of the pupil.
