The Supply Desk Brighton Branch are recruiting for a very popular independent school in coastal West Sussex who are looking for an exciting and inspirational part time teacher of History for one term, however there is the opportunity for a permanent role for the right applicant.

The school is an independent 11-18 school which focuses on academic excellence, inspiration and enrichment for each and every pupil. The head teacher says of the students that they “are pushed to think and to explore, and they enjoy great success in the academic sphere. It is important to us, too, that learning at the School is broad as well as deep, and we encourage the development of the whole person – be that in sport, the arts or a multitude of other areas. In short, we support and challenge everyone in a truly rounded way.



This position is part time and negotiable as they will build the timetable around the successful applicant. You will be expected to perform the full teaching role and take on extra responsibilities where required. You will be paid to scale in line with AWR from day one of this position. The head of History describes the History course as “Throughout the GCSE course, the Department nurtures pupil learning, which is critically informed by independent research. For instance, school essay prizes and national history essay competitions, such as the Historical Association’s Young Historian Project, are used to foster learning grounded in well-read independent research.”

  • QTS or overseas equivalent qualification
  • UK experience and/or experience in long-term positions with similar age groups
