About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking a caring and proactive Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist school in the Chichester area. This rewarding role involves supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence in a structured and nurturing environment.

Working alongside experienced teachers and therapists, you’ll play a vital role in creating positive learning experiences that enable every pupil to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism.
  • Assist with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Support sensory activities and structured classroom routines.
  • Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to meet individual targets.
  • Help maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing and progress throughout the school day.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or Autism is desirable.
  • Patient, caring and empathetic nature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable.
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
