We agree to the following minimum level of service:
Quality Assessment for all supply teachers
On-going quality assessment for all supply teachers through the use of Supply Desk’s Supply Teacher Assessment Rating System (STARS scores). Ratings are requested, averaged over time and tracked after Day 1, Week 4 and every 4 weeks thereafter. Supply staff are graded according to their performance, and the highest performing staff can then be ‘ring-fenced’ for our client’s booking priority.
Independent Clearing Team
Due to the sensitivity of the markets in which we operate, Supply Desk uses a Clearing Team which operate independently of our consultants and account managers. This team consists only of vetting specialists accredited by the DfE. Our clearance process is extremely rigorous and exceeds the requirements of the former DfE Quality Mark standards. We are fully compliant with the relevant legislation or guidance including ‘Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education (Jan 2007)’ and the Children’s Workforce Development Council Safe Recruitment for Schools recommendations. This ensures supply staff are recruited to the same standards as permanent staff for your school.
Registered and Umbrella Body DBS vetting service provider
To reinforce our safeguarding commitment, Supply Desk are an established Registered and Umbrella Body DBS vetting service provider. We provide a DBS Disclosure service to schools, the private sector, and charities.
Supplier on the CCS Framework
As a preferred supplier on the Crown Commercial Services Framework for Supply Teachers and Temporary Staff in Education Establishments, clients are assured of the following when working with Supply Desk:
- Robust background screening and safeguarding to DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education standards
- Suppliers are audited and accredited to show they have best practice standards in education recruitment
- Complete transparency of costs

All candidates are routinely asked for their understanding of what an outstanding lesson looks like within their subject area.
Our client schools are automatically sent confirmation of checks as well as AWR confirmation for every booking.
One Call Guarantee
We guarantee a 10-minute response time for same day bookings and a 90-minute response time for next day bookings.
24 hour / 7 days per week service
Every Supply Desk office operates an on-call system, which means we can be contacted at all times to help our client schools with any last-minute supply cover requirements.
On-going support and CPD for all our candidates
Supply Desk recognises that continued professional development (CPD) is essential for all teachers and support staff, including supply staff. Throughout the year we offer a range of CPD courses, which all of our candidates are welcome to attend.
