A specialist SEND school in Basingstoke is seeking caring, patient, and resilient individuals to support students aged 11-19 with Autism and ADHD. This is an excellent opportunity for those with a background in care, support work, residential care, healthcare, or community settings who are looking to transfer their skills into education.
Your experience in building positive relationships, supporting emotional regulation, remaining calm under pressure, and understanding the barriers faced by individuals with additional needs will be invaluable in helping young people succeed both academically and socially.
About the School
This welcoming specialist school supports around 50 students aged 11-19 with Autism and ADHD. The school takes a highly personalised approach to education, ensuring every student receives the support they need to develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
Staff work closely together as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, creating a nurturing environment where students can thrive. The school also offers free on-site parking and includes a residential provision for some students.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with Autism and ADHD throughout the school day.
- Help students regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
- Build trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement in learning.
- Support participation in educational, social, and enrichment activities.
- Provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet individual student needs.
- Record and report any concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Promote student independence, wellbeing, and personal development.
