Computer Science Teacher – Portsmouth
Start Date: September 26
Contract: Long-Term (until December 2026, with potential to become permanent)
Pay: £160 – £240 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time
Location: Portsmouth


Position Overview:

Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a passionate and skilled Computer Science Teacher. This exciting role begins Septmeber 26and runs through to December, with strong potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering engaging Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, working within a collaborative and forward-thinking ICT & Computing department. The school welcomes applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs), experienced teachers, and unqualified educators with relevant secondary Computer Science teaching experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and inclusive Computer Science lessons tailored to a wide range of learning abilities

  • Teach topics such as programming, algorithms, cybersecurity, and digital literacy

  • Assess and mark student work in accordance with school and national standards, providing constructive feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum development and ICT-related enrichment opportunities

  • Foster a classroom environment that supports high expectations for behaviour, participation, and achievement

  • Engage with the wider school community through extracurricular clubs, events, and parent evenings

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Computer Science, ICT, or a closely related field (essential)

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (preferred)

  • A solid understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Computing curriculum

  • Passion for technology and teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students

  • Strong classroom management and clear communication skills

  • A commitment to inclusive education and continued professional growth
