Are you a creative and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a passionate DT Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you’ll inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence across the Design & Technology curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical, and inclusive Design & Technology lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
- Teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for GCSE examinations where applicable.
- Create a safe, positive, and stimulating workshop environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and independent learning.
- Develop students’ practical skills across a range of specialist areas, including Resistant Materials, Product Design, Graphics, Engineering, or Food Technology (where appropriate).
- Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, health and safety, and safe working practices within the workshop at all times.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student is supported to achieve their potential.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents, and the wider school community to promote student achievement and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; however, candidates with relevant Design & Technology teaching experience will also be considered.
- Strong subject knowledge across the DT curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A passion for inspiring students through practical and creative learning.
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting students of all abilities.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
