About the Role
Are you a passionate and enthusiastic History Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated History Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you’ll inspire students to develop a strong understanding of the past, critical thinking skills, and a genuine interest in History.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive History lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
- Teach History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for GCSE examinations where applicable.
- Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of key historical periods, events, individuals, and themes.
- Encourage students to analyse historical sources, evaluate evidence, and develop strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support.
- Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, discussion, independent learning, and academic confidence.
- Differentiate lessons and resources to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every student is supported to achieve their potential.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and respect within the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents, and the wider school community to promote student achievement and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the wider History department and school activities where appropriate.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Strong subject knowledge across the History curriculum.
- Experience teaching History at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4 is desirable.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A passion for inspiring students and developing their interest in History.
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting students of all abilities.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
