Supply Desk is recruiting on behalf of a supportive secondary school in Watford seeking an enthusiastic History Teacher to join their Humanities department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to inspire students through engaging lessons that bring historical events, cultures, and societies to life, while developing students’ critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
This role offers the opportunity to teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 teaching for the right candidate. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), you will be joining a school that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional development.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Deliver engaging and stimulating History lessons that encourage curiosity and a passion for learning.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement and attainment.
• Foster a positive classroom environment where students feel confident, valued, and motivated to succeed.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to share ideas and contribute to the ongoing development of the Humanities department.
• Support students in preparing for examinations while developing strong research, evaluation, and analytical skills.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, and participation in all lessons.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Has a degree in History or a related subject area.
• Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History.
• Builds positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Can inspire learners and make History engaging, accessible, and relevant.
• Is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
