About the Role
Supply Desk is looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a range of welcoming schools across Portsmouth.
We have opportunities for LSAs who are passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential. Whether you have experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs, or you are looking to build your experience within education, we would love to hear from you.
You could be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working with small groups or providing general classroom support, depending on the school’s requirements.
The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils

Support children and young people with SEND and additional learning needs
-
Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning
-
Help deliver targeted interventions and individual learning programmes
-
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
-
Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
-
Support pupils with their social and emotional development
-
Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
-
Monitor pupil engagement and contribute to progress updates

Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
-
Experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH is advantageous
-
Patient, nurturing and approachable personality
-
Calm and consistent approach to behaviour management
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to adapt to different pupils and school environments
-
Resilient, reliable and flexible approach
-
Genuine passion for helping children succeed

Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification are advantageous

Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
