Media Studies Teacher – Sixth Form College in Southampton
Start Date: September (Autumn Term)
Contract: Full-Time | Temporary until December
Working Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Pay: £165 – £250 per day (dependent on experience)
Position Overview
A high-performing sixth form college in the Southampton area is seeking a committed Media Studies Teacher for a full-time role starting in September and running until the end of the Autumn Term (December).
You will teach Media Studies up to A-Level, delivering engaging, analytical and creative lessons that develop students’ critical thinking, production skills and understanding of contemporary media. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-achieving post-16 environment with motivated learners.

What You Will Be Doing
- Teaching Media Studies at A-Level
- Delivering engaging lessons covering media theory, analysis and production
- Supporting students with coursework, practical projects and exam preparation
- Planning and contributing to a well-structured and ambitious curriculum
- Encouraging critical thinking around digital, print and broadcast media
- Assessing and tracking student progress in line with departmental expectations
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified teacher with UK QTS (or equivalent post-16 teaching experience)
- Experience teaching Media Studies at KS5/A-Level
- Strong subject knowledge across media theory and practical production
- The ability to inspire and engage post-16 learners
- Confident classroom management suited to a mature learning environment
- A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
