RELIGOUS EDUCATION TEACHER
Religious Education (RE) Teacher – Portsmouth
Start Date: September 26
Contract: Long-term (potential to become permanent)
Pay: £160 – £240 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-time
Location: Portsmouth
Position Overview:
Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school located in Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated Religious Education (RE) Teacher. This role is set to begin in September 2026 and will run until December 2026, with a strong likelihood of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.
You will be responsible for delivering RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, working as part of a supportive and collaborative Humanities department. This opportunity is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators. The school is also open to considering unqualified teachers or non-specialists who have relevant experience teaching RE at secondary level.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive RE lessons that reflect a range of religious and cultural perspectives.

Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.

Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of RE within the school.

Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment with high standards of behaviour.

Take an active role in school life and support extracurricular opportunities where possible.

What We’re Looking For:

A degree in Religious Studies or a closely related subject (required).

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred).

Experience teaching Religious Education at KS3 and KS4.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

A genuine enthusiasm for Religious Education and helping students to develop understanding and respect for diverse beliefs.
