Salary: £90–£130 per day (dependent on experience)

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task with pre-prepared lesson materials. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across the secondary school during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and complete the work provided.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and communicate instructions clearly to students.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to students where appropriate, helping them stay focused on their learning.
  • Report back to teaching staff on lesson progress, student engagement, and any behavioural concerns.
  • Encourage a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment where all students can learn effectively.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in supervising groups of students and managing classroom behaviour.
  • A calm, organised, and adaptable approach to working in a busy school environment.
  • The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
  • A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting young people in achieving their potential.
