Job Description
Supply Desk is supporting a well-established specialist school in Southampton in its search for a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join the team from October 2026.
This is a full-time position working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and personalised lessons, supporting students both academically and emotionally while helping them overcome barriers to learning.
The role is initially expected to continue until Christmas 2026, with a strong possibility of extension through to July 2027 for the right candidate.
This opportunity would suit an experienced SEMH Teacher, SEND Teacher, Primary or Secondary Teacher looking to transition into specialist education, or a teacher with a strong passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to students with SEMH needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
- Foster positive relationships that support engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with curriculum expectations.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Support students in developing resilience, confidence, and independence.
- Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, SEND, and behaviour support teams.
- Contribute positively to the wider development of students and the school community.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or additional needs is desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students.
- Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
- A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to teaching.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
