Are you a passionate and dedicated Post-16 SEN Teacher looking for your next opportunity? Supply Desk is currently seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable teacher to join a specialist post-16 educational setting in Hemel Hempstead from September 2026.

This is a fantastic full-time opportunity for a teacher with experience supporting young people aged 16-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional learning needs. Applications are welcomed from both qualified teachers (QTS) and experienced unqualified teachers who are committed to preparing young people for adulthood, further education, employment, and independent living.

About the Role

As a Post-16 SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students aged 16-19 with Autism and additional learning needs.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.
  • Plan and deliver a curriculum that develops academic, vocational, life, and employability skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to accommodate a wide range of learning abilities and communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external agencies to support positive outcomes for students.
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing meaningful feedback and celebrating achievements.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and personal development, encouraging confidence and independence.
  • Prepare students for life beyond education, promoting skills for employment, further learning, and independent living.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the provision and support whole-setting initiatives.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is welcomed; experienced unqualified teachers will also be considered.
  • Experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional learning needs is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of preparing learners for adulthood, including employability and independent living skills.
  • Flexible and confident teaching across a range of abilities and curriculum areas.
  • Passionate about supporting students with SEND to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Positive, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
