Cover Supervisor Opportunities – Aylesbury

Primary and Secondary Schools in and around Aylesbury

Supply Desk, in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council, is currently recruiting confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across schools in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas.

Whether you already have experience working in schools or are looking to gain classroom experience before progressing into teaching, we have a range of flexible and long-term opportunities available.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for classes during the short-term absence of the usual teacher. Work will already be planned and provided, with your role focused on keeping pupils engaged, managing the classroom and ensuring learning continues effectively.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities

  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

  • Supporting pupils to remain focused and engaged with their work

  • Following school behaviour, safeguarding and classroom policies

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons

  • Supporting across different subjects where required

Cover Supervisor roles can be particularly suitable for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers and experienced school support staff looking to develop their classroom experience.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential

  • Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged pupils

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A professional, reliable and adaptable approach

  • A genuine interest in working within education

  • Flexibility to work in schools across Aylesbury and surrounding areas
