Job Description:

We are seeking a confident and proactive Art Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in the Portsmouth area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for creativity and education who can confidently manage classrooms and maintain high behavioural standards across KS3 and KS4.

The successful candidate will supervise pre-planned Art lessons, ensure students remain engaged and on task, and create a calm and productive learning environment. Strong behaviour management is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-set Art lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management at all times
  • Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and working productively
  • Support students of varying abilities within the classroom
  • Manage classroom routines effectively and confidently
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a secondary school setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills are essential
  • Confident leading classes independently
  • Passion for Art, creativity, and supporting young people
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and professional approach

Desirable:

  • Experience covering Art lessons or working within a creative subject area
  • Previous Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant experience
  • Degree or qualification related to Art or Education
