Are you a calm, patient, and dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed Behaviour Support Mentor to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you’ll play a key role in helping students manage their behaviour, develop emotional resilience, and engage positively with their learning. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who may require additional behavioural, emotional, and social support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students to understand and manage their emotions, make positive choices, and develop appropriate coping strategies.
  • Work with students across a range of abilities and needs, adapting support to meet individual requirements.
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH, and other additional needs where appropriate.
  • Encourage students to engage positively with learning and develop positive attitudes towards school.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on students’ behaviour, progress, engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Implement individual behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and agreed strategies consistently.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Support students during lessons, break times, lunchtimes, transitions, and other situations where additional support may be required.
  • Help create a safe, calm, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes student wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, incidents, progress, and relevant observations.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • A calm, patient, consistent, and empathetic approach when supporting challenging situations.
  • The ability to remain professional and composed when working under pressure.
  • Strong observational and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach to supporting individual student needs.
  • A commitment to inclusion and helping students develop positive behaviours and achieve their potential.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
