Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in the Slough area to appoint a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting pupils’ learning and maintaining high standards across the school.
This role would suit an organised, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about education and confident managing a classroom environment.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning and promoting positive behaviour across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during teacher absences using pre-set lesson plans
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies
- Ensure pupils remain engaged and complete the work provided
- Support students with their learning and respond to questions where appropriate
- Create a calm, positive, and productive learning environment
- Take attendance and report any issues to relevant staff members
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement and lesson outcomes
- Support students across a range of subjects and year groups
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Confident leading groups of students independently
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and adaptable
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting education
- Reliable, organised, and proactive approach
Desirable
- Experience working in a school setting
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Sports Coach, or Youth Worker
- Degree-level education or current studies towards a degree
- Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management practices
- Aspiring teacher looking to gain classroom experience
