Examinations Officer – Watford

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September | Contract: Full-Time
Salary: £110–£160 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced Examinations Officer with a strong understanding of school examination processes and regulations? Supply Desk is recruiting on behalf of a well-organised and supportive school in Watford seeking a dedicated Examinations Officer to oversee the smooth planning, administration, and delivery of internal and external examinations.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring all examinations are conducted efficiently, securely, and in full compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations. Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, invigilators, students, and external examination boards, you will be responsible for managing the school’s examination cycle from entry through to results.

Please note: Previous experience working as an Examinations Officer within a school or college is essential. Due to the specialist nature of the role, applications from candidates without direct examinations officer experience will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the planning, organisation and delivery of all internal and external examinations.
• Ensure all examination processes comply with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
• Coordinate examination entries, amendments, withdrawals and candidate registrations.
• Prepare and distribute examination timetables and communicate key information to staff, students and parents.
• Recruit, train and manage examination invigilators where required.
• Organise examination rooms, seating plans and appropriate access arrangements for eligible students.
• Maintain accurate examination records and securely handle confidential examination materials.
• Process results, post-results services and certification in line with examination board deadlines.
• Liaise effectively with awarding organisations, school staff and senior leadership to ensure examinations run smoothly.

Requirements:

Previous experience working as an Examinations Officer within a school or college is essential.
• Excellent knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination board procedures.
• Experience managing the full examination cycle, including entries, timetables, invigilation and results.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines accurately.
• High level of attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication and administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and school management systems.
• A proactive, professional and reliable approach to work.
