Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
  • Teach across Humanities subjects (e.g. History, Geography, or Religious Studies), depending on specialism.
  • Plan and develop stimulating schemes of work that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Encourage students to explore diverse perspectives and develop analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, enrichment activities, and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement and wellbeing.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge in at least one Humanities discipline.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check and professional references.
