Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in West Sussex, who are seeking a passionate and qualified Reception Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Early Years specialist to inspire young learners at the very start of their school journey within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
About the Role
As a Reception Class Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, creative and developmentally appropriate learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will create a warm, stimulating classroom where children feel safe, confident and ready to explore, while supporting their social, emotional, physical and academic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality EYFS lessons and activities tailored to Reception-aged pupils
- Create a safe, nurturing and engaging classroom environment that promotes curiosity and independence
- Assess, monitor and record children’s progress in line with EYFS expectations
- Support children’s communication, language, phonics, early literacy and numeracy development
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and senior leaders
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers to support each child’s learning journey
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and positive behaviour across the classroom
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching within Early Years or Reception is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early child development
- Warm, nurturing and creative approach to teaching
- Excellent classroom management, organisation and communication skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children during their first stage of school life
Requirements
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Two professional teaching references
- Eligibility to work in the UK
