About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary SEN Teacher to join an inclusive, forward-thinking secondary school environment in Harrow. This is an exciting opportunity to empower young people with Special Educational Needs during a vital stage of their academic, personal, and social development.

In this role, you will deliver tailored learning programmes designed to engage secondary pupils, build their functional and life skills, and support them in achieving key educational milestones and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate secondary curriculum content adapted to varying cognitive and developmental levels.
  • Support secondary students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN, and moderate-to-severe learning difficulties.
  • Establish an inclusive, safe, and positive classroom environment that fosters student independence and confidence.
  • Monitor pupil progress, track attainment, and update records in line with EHCP targets and post-secondary goals.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams, SENCOs, external agencies, and parents to support holistic student development.
  • Implement effective strategies for positive behaviour management and support students’ emotional and mental wellbeing.
  • Adapt learning materials and teaching methods to prepare students for adult life, further education, or vocational pathways.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent) with secondary teaching experience.
  • Proven experience teaching secondary-aged young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong understanding of secondary curriculum adaptations, EHCP targets, and progress tracking.
  • Exceptional communication, resilience, and classroom management skills suited for a secondary SEN setting.
  • An empathetic, adaptable, and encouraging approach to teaching.
  • A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults.
