We are looking to appoint a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school in Watford from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping every child achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative and experienced team, delivering high-quality, personalised teaching to pupils with a range of additional needs. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and is committed to creating a positive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Create a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued.
- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
- Assess, monitor and record pupils’ progress, adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning needs.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, therapists and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of support.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of pupils’ progress and development.
- Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, communication and social development.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute positively to the wider school community.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs, either within a specialist setting or in a mainstream school.
- A good understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching practice.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach to teaching.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
