Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN, including those with PMLD.
- Support sensory, communication, and physical development using specialist strategies and resources.
- Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to implement individualised learning programmes.
- Create a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning outcomes.
- Promote independence, communication, and life skills through a holistic curriculum.
- Manage complex behaviours with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Contribute actively to the wider school community and the ongoing development of SEN provision.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience working in SEN settings, particularly with pupils with PMLD.
- Strong understanding of EHCPs, sensory approaches, and communication methods such as PECS and Makaton.
- Patient, adaptable, and resilient, with a compassionate and nurturing approach.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development.
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide professional references.
