About the Role

Are you a passionate and creative Art Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you’ll inspire students to develop their creativity, artistic skills, and confidence through engaging, practical, and thought-provoking lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, challenging, and inclusive Art lessons in line with the relevant curriculum and examination specifications.
  • Teach Art to students across a range of abilities, supporting them to develop their artistic skills, creativity, and understanding of different techniques and processes.
  • Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of a range of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, and mixed media where appropriate.
  • Encourage students to experiment with different materials, techniques, and approaches while developing their own creative ideas and artistic style.
  • Inspire students to explore artists, designers, cultures, and artistic movements and apply these influences to their own work.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE, A-Level, or other relevant Art and Design examinations.
  • Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their artistic and academic development.
  • Create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, independence, experimentation, and participation.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and respect within the classroom.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Art and Design and the relevant curriculum or examination specifications.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, creative, and practical Art lessons.
  • A passion for Art and a commitment to inspiring students to develop their creativity, confidence, and artistic skills.
  • The ability to encourage students to experiment, think creatively, and develop their own ideas.
  • A commitment to raising attainment and supporting students of all abilities.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A relevant Art, Art & Design, Education, or teaching qualification is desirable.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
