Supply Desk are working closely with a thriving secondary school in Portsmouth, who are seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced education professionals looking to gain valuable classroom experience. The successful candidate will supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and on task in the teacher’s absence.
Overview
Supply Desk are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Cover Supervisor to work within a supportive secondary school in the Portsmouth area. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The role involves delivering pre-set work across Key Stages 3 and 4, maintaining positive behaviour for learning and supporting students throughout the school day. No planning or marking is required, making this an ideal stepping stone into teaching.

We are currently looking for Cover Supervisors who:
- Have experience working with young people in an educational, coaching or mentoring environment.
- Are confident managing a classroom and maintaining positive behaviour.
- Can deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects.
- Are adaptable, organised and able to think on their feet.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hold a degree or relevant experience working within schools (desirable but not essential).
- Are passionate about supporting students and helping them achieve their potential.
- Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
