Salary: M1–UPS3 (£34,398–£52,490)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled Year 5 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Watford from September 2026. This is a full-time role, offering an excellent opportunity to inspire and engage pupils within Key Stage 2 in a nurturing and forward-thinking environment.

The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering creative, well-structured and differentiated learning experiences that support pupils’ academic progress, personal development and confidence. You will play a key role in fostering a love of learning, strengthening core skills, and promoting positive learning behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative and well-differentiated lessons for a mixed Year 5 class.
  • Ensure strong progress in core subjects, particularly English and Mathematics, as well as foundation subjects.
  • Use assessment effectively to track progress and inform next steps in learning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Support pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to wider school life, enrichment activities and school events.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attainment and engagement.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective differentiation.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A creative, reflective and proactive approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
